When I first started skating, I had skate heroes that I really looked up to and would die to meet. The Deshi skate video brought back my memories of these days, when I was a pro-lover. ;) I'll bet there are plenty you guys reading this, who today are just like I was back then – this DVD is for you! The roster of the tour promises high quality skating and delivers: Ian McCloud, Chris Farmer, Randy Spizer, and Louie Zamora. It is an about half/half mixture of a skate video and a documentary with interviews with the 4 team riders commenting the tour. I would define this video as a documentary rather than a skate video – and if you are to buy it, you should buy it for that reason.

The tour begins in Frankfurt, Germany, but the skating starts in Stuttgart and goes around Germany and the UK to finish off in Weymouth, UK. I was surprised by the quality of skating, which can top many videos, considering that it all was shot in only 14 days. I only wish it was less talk talk talk and more skate skate skate. The tour takes the team across Germany and the UK at some really sweet spots and crappy as well – but the skaters gets the most out of every spot they visit.

The video is edited and filmed by "V" – also known from Life+. This alone sets the standard of the video to a high class.

There are several things that I like about this video, which pushes my rating up: (1) The video follows a an outline that actually makes sense. It isn't just random tricks put together like most other videos you can buy. (2) Some might disagree with me here, but I like amount of park skating in the video. No matter how much we try to deny it, park is a part of our sport that most people perfom on an equal basis to the amount of real street skating we perform. The great talent of these 4 skaters inspired me to try some new stuff in park skating. (3) The honest and sometimes funny comments by the 4 team members are nice breaks from the skating. I would like to have seen more skating though – but again – this is more of a documentary than a skate video, and the DVD should be taken for that.

The DVD brings you with the Deshi team on tour and lets you experience what they witnessed in the 14 days of the tour. It belongs to another category than regular skate videos, which is why it is hard to compare to these. The level of skating is high, but it lacks in amount of skating to compete on being a skate video. The video is around 45 minutes long, and have around 20 minutes of skating (My guess) Although the amount of skating isn't high, I still think that this belongs on your video-shelf. It is not a must-have, but fun to watch to know more about your favorite skate hero (if your hero is one of the four).
