If you have been skating in the approximity of 10 years, then you definitely remember what Cool Runnings was. If you can’t, let me refresh: it was a unique experience, known throughout Europe and the rest of the world for having a great and laid back atmosphere as opposed to most other ASA competitions. Cool Runnings 1 was held in 1997 – the last in year 2000.

To compete in a Cool Runnings competition, you had to either be an ASA pro, or be qualified through prelims in one of these Danish cities: Thisted, Holstebro, Slagelse, Copenhagen, Horsens, or Aalborg. In 1997, Tom Ahlqvist won the street contest in the age of 22, 12 year old Jonas Lynge came in 8th, 19 year old Jens Hannibalsen 9th. The then Roces pro, Rene Hulgreen, was a safe bet to win the vert competition every year, but he competed with high profiles such as Tolba Issame and Matteo Alanasio.
The prelims will be bypassed this year… but one thing is for sure: Cool Runnings is back!!!

Why does the poster say 28th if it´s on the 29th?

Ooops… I was wrong when I created the poster. It’s on the 29th.
