The night before the event, I had received the very special honor of hosting 9 Norwegians and 1 Swede in my apartment. As we had been out partying this honor, we arrived a little bit late at the competition, saddened to find out that we had already been kicked away from spot 1.
After a while, we all went in flock to spot 2: The Valby rails. A hip high handicap rail, that slants both up and down making it perfect for a competition.
Most notable here were Michael Dalgaard Nielsen’s royale up, straight, and down the entire rail and Seth Nicolas’ truespin topside pornstar. The hip high rail seemed a little too much to handle for most competitors (including myself), why most resolved to their safe tricks.

Spot 2 was the very long Panum institute ledges – the kind of ledges a mortal skater like me use a whole session to do once. So naturally, with 10 minute heats, most tricks wasn’t done all the way. The best tricks here was Jacob Juuls fishbrain all the way, Seth Nicolas’ truespin mistrial, and Michael Dalgaard Nielsens royale up the ledge to gap over the concrete wall. Mark Stamer unfortunately broke his wrist on this spot, why he was out of commision for the rest of the competition.
The final spot was a ledge on the skaters left side, that keeps in level, while stairs on its right side goes down. Most notable here was without doubt Jacob Juuls fullcab backside savannah with a massive 540 out. He actually managed to make the 540 so massive that he jumped over me while I was trying to catch him on camera with my fisheye.
Seth Nicolas also gave his best with a perfect truespin topside pornstar all the way. After that, he tried to truespin fishbrain it, and came pretty close. Unfortunately, the finals had a time limit – so he didn’t get to finally do it.
The afterparty can be argued to be even more memorable than the competition: we crashed a Roller Disco party (as in old-school roller skate dance moves party).
Thank you Magnus Packness, Christian Berg, and Ronni Skovmand for picking up the torch and putting life into our scene again.
