Winterclash 2010 report

February 20, 2010

My virginity was recently taken by a man younger than me. It was much better than I had ever imagined!

I’m of course talking about my Winterclash-virginity, and the man who took it was Jojo Jacobi. For reasons I cannot imagine anymore, Winterclash 2010 was my first Winterclash. How foolish of me! I have never been to skate event this organized and big. First of all, close to 2000 skaters (if not more) were gathered at one place at the same time (that’s a first for me), the event was at a venue that I’ve only before seen possible for skateboard competition (that’s a first for me), the event was incredibly well organized with more than a dozen of security guards, lots of volunteer staff (that’s a first for me), and it had a “backstage” area worthy of kings (that’s definitely a first for me).

But even though there were so many organizational details that was just perfectly executed, the biggest part of the virginity was experiencing the incredible atmosphere. Winterclash 2010 had a crowd going that could easily match a high-profiled soccer match. It was intense!

The level of skating was unmatched. It apparently seemed that the entrance point was being able to do a 3-4 meter high 900 over the jumpbox – regardless of you being a girl or a boy. I felt so puny! There were so many incredibly crazy hammers being thrown that I am going to just leave the trick-dropping to you. Watch one of these videos, sit back in amazement, and you’ll get a good idea of how sick the event was.

I’m looking forward for next year!

Traitement - Jonas Hansson's new project

February 09, 2010

Yesterday, Jonas Hansson announced his new video project: Traitement. The only thing we know now is that it features Jacob Juul – not when it will be out, or where you’ll be able to get it.

Our good friend Jacob Juul recently underwent knee surgery and is facing months of rehabilitation, with high spirit though. We all wish him a fast recovery.
Here’s a clip shot in Berlin prior to his injury, this also serves as the first sneak peak for my next project Traitement.

- Jonas Hansson

More info on Jacob and Traitement will follow. Until then, enjoy this truespin mistrial down a sick sick kink rail in Berlin:

Winterclash under economic pressure

January 28, 2010

The Winterclash will not have as much sponsoring as first expected. The future looks grim! If there is going to be an event at all, then you need to buy your ticket in advance. You can buy your Winterclash weekendpass at skatepro right now!

A weekend pass will give you

  • Access to friday and saturday
  • Access to “The Afterclash” party
  • Cheaper hotel prices at selected hotels near the venue
  • You will support rolling more than you know

Here is the message from the Winterclash Team:

Winterclash needs your support! That’s not just a lame slogan – it’s a fact!
The Winterclash 2010 will be a step into a new direction for Rollerblading events and for Rollerblading itself. However, in order to take this step, your support is truly needed!

This year we will have less sponsors than expected. Thus, the financing of the Winterclash 2010 is getting a bit tricky right now and it looks like there will be a huge minus after the event. The worst case scenario is: There will be no future for the Winterclash after 2010!

It is in YOUR hands now because you can support the event and save its future by buying a “Weekend Pass” instead of a day ticket! Order it right now in one of our partner shops and become a strong supporter. We need YOU to live on.

35€ seems like a lot, but think about what’s included: 2 full event days, 2 parties, cheaper hotel rooms and that’s just the basics. For 35€ you will be part of the biggest event in Rollerblading. You will meet all the old and so many new friends, share great moments, see the best Rollerblading today, meet all the Pros, party hard, roll hard, enjoy…

We fully appreciate your support and we can’t wait to see you soon in Berlin!

The Winterclash Team

Go to Winterclash with style!

January 18, 2010

If you aren’t going to WInterclash, you need a sanity check. The fact that you are going should be a given. So let’s see how you can go with style!

First of all: it comes with free beer!

Danish skate, competition, and event extraordinaire, Morten Engmark, has come up with this brilliant idea of renting two rock-star band busses to go to Winterclash – fully equipped with x-boxes, flatscreen TV, wifi, full-size bunk beds with nice mattresses, and perhaps most important of all: free beer!

The great thing is that, when you’re on it, you’ve got everything in one: you don’t need to rent a hotel or worry about how to get there. Just get on the bus in Copenhagen, get a good buzz going with the beer and good company of your fellow skate friends and arrive some hours later right outside the Arena Berlin – the Winterclash venue.

There is still few spots available in the bus as not everybody has transferred the money yet. So if you want to go to Winterclash with style, then go sign up here:
http://www.facebook.com/#/event.php?eid=178030084960&ref=ts

Write Morten that you want to get on, and transfer the money. Then you’ve got the ticket.

The price for this spectacular (and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity) is DKK 2000,-

The bus is heated, has real beds, nice pillows and linen.

Oh, and breakfast is included…

… and did i mention that free beer and soda is included in the DKK 2000,- price?

Go sign up now before it’s too late…

—-

Ladies and gentleman,

We made it! Winterclash.com is finally online and packed with all the information. It took us almost half a year to fix a location, handle loads of problems on our way and make sure to guarantee an enjoyable Winterclash 2010.

This event is the first step into the direction we think the Winterclash needs to be pushed. The way into the public eye and into the media. A step in a direction we need to go to push the thing we call Rollerblading and a step in a bright future with people finally realizing what this sport is about.
It’s time to spread the word about our sport, our community and about the love we share.

The Winterclash 2010 is an event which transports all of the things above, but first of all and most important, it’s an event FOR YOU!

Together with our top professionals, wild amateurs and outstanding girl skaters, and together with a crowd traveling to Berlin from all over the world we will enjoy the weekend of the year in one of the greatest cities in this world.

We need you for this and we are truly looking forward to welcome you at the Winterclash 2010.
